Pre- and Post-Congress Tours
Conferencing in Cape Town affords delegates a wonderful opportunity to extend their stay and discover just why South Africa is one of the fastest growing tourist destinations worldwide.
6SCWC Delegates will be offered a range of travel itineraries that vary from an extended stay in Cape Town to trips to other popular destinations around South Africa and Southern Africa.
Some members of the 6SCWC International Program Committee (IPC) have already experienced first-hand the natural beauty and wildlife that extending your stay in Southern Africa can offer! View below Alejandra León-Castellá’s personal account of her Southern African adventures, as well as enjoy some of her shared photos and video footage.
“My name is Alejandra León-Castellá and I participate in the International Program Committee (IPC) for the 6SCWC as a delegate of the Latin American Network (RedPop) where I represent CIENTEC in Costa Rica (www.cientec.or.cr). In November 2010, the IPC met in Cape Town to take a closer look at the venues proposed for the conference, review the advances, and define the program.
For many of us it was our first trip to South Africa; so Brenton Honeyman from ASPAC (www.aspacnet.org) and I decided to extend our visit. Before the meeting we travelled to Zimbabwe to experience the magnificent Victoria Falls. Then we visited Cape Town and nearby attractions: the Bolder Penguin Colony, Stellenbosch, Franschhoek and Saldanha. Afterwards we travelled north and stayed at two different private game lodges (Kapama Karula and Arathusa) near the Kruger National Park, where we were treated to morning and afternoon safaris. Wow! It was a great African adventure.... beyond our expectations. We encourage delegates to take advantage of these pre- and post congress tour opportunities when attending the 6SCWC.”
Below, Alejandra and Brenton have kindly offered to share their photographs, videos and memories with us:
