Cape Town was also named Africa’s Leading Destination at the 17th World Travel Awards in July 2010.
After South Africa’s superb hosting of the world’s biggest sporting event, the 2010 FIFA Football World Cup, the next event of great significance in South Africa will be 6SCWC in September 2011! We hope you have been convinced of our ability to put on a great show in our beautiful country.

6SCWC REGISTRATION FEES AND INFORMATION Registration for the 6SCWC opens in September 2010, with discounts for early registrations and delegates from low GNI countries. 6SCWC PRE-CONGRESS WORKSHOP A three-day pre-congress Capacity Building Workshop will be held on 2, 3 and 4 September 2011, immediately prior to the 6SCWC. This internationally collaborative workshop will be led by Sue Stocklmayer of the Australian National University (ANU), in partnership with personnel from the SAASTEC community, Questacon in Canberra, and the Flemish science centre Technopolis. The workshop will include instruction from the experts on how to design, implement and operate a science centre. The venue in Cape Town will be announced in due course.
Delegates attending the Capacity Building Workshop must be registered for 6SCWC and an additional fee for the workshop will be charged. Click here to be added to our mailing list in order to be notified when registration for the pre-congress workshop opens.
6SCWC SOCIAL PROGRAMME It’s not all work and no play! An exciting social programme has been planned and 6SCWC delegates are encouraged to bring their families. Delegates and registered accompanying persons are invited to attend the Welcome Reception, the Gala Dinner and evening excursions to Cape Town museums and science centres as part of their registration package. Accompanying persons are also invited to participate in two City Sightseeing excursions during congress sessions.
